founder + principal
Maya Madison is an architect, interior designer, and founder of mad. She believes the best spaces begin with understanding the people who live in them.
Her process starts with listening: how you live, what matters to you, and the experiences and culture that shape your sense of home. An art collection might inspire a material palette; the way you cook or entertain might lead to a unique kitchen layout. Maya brings a creative perspective, explores possibilities with you, and helps turn those personal details into a home that feels your own.
With more than a decade of experience in New York, she brings architecture and interiors together, connecting the overall layout to the smallest details while guiding clients through approvals and construction.
Maya holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University and is a Certified Passive House Designer, with an approach grounded in comfort, energy efficiency, and thoughtful use of materials.

Designed with you
Every home we design is different because every client is. What stays the same is a process built on listening, so the finished space feels unmistakably yours.
discover + assess
We begin by getting to know you. Understanding your daily routines, what you love about your home, what could work better, and what you envision for the future. Together, we establish your priorities, budget, and timeline while understanding the possibilities of your space.
design + develop
We shape the design around how you live, from cooking and entertaining to working and unwinding. Through thoughtful layouts, materials, lighting, and details, we create a home that reflects your personality and supports your everyday needs.
document + approve
We translate your design into drawings and specifications that communicate how your home will come together. We guide you through applicable building approvals, permitting and construction and coordinate with consultants and reviewing agencies as needed.
